Welcome to the 2017/18 school year! One of my deepest passions is teaching! It is something I love doing and my goal is to help all students reach their fullest learning potential. I graduated college in 1986 with a degree in English and journalism and with a minor in theater. In 1992 I completed my masters degree in education with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction. I also hold an English Supplementary authorization and a CLAD certificate specializing with instruction for English learners. I taught in LAUSD for four years in 3rd grade in a modified bilingual classroom and was the GATE coordinator at the school site. Currently, I have taught 19 years in FVSD with experience in K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. My leadership roles in the past included being the district mentor for English Learners, ELAC lead teacher, GATE coordinator at the Tamura School site and a key trainer for Project GLAD. Project GLAD is a professional teaching model dedicated to building academic language and literacy skills for all English learners. It is considered as a “Best Practice” program for Title III professional development by CDE. I earned Tamura Teacher of the year in 2011/2012 school year. Being a long time resident of Fountain Valley, I am committed to inspiring my students to love learning. I live with my wonderful husband and have two amazing children. My daughter Amber currently attends USC and has a double major in journalism and Cinematic Arts. My son Luc who is in 10th grade attends J-Serra Catholic School and his team recently went to state in Cross Country.
